Missionary Journal - 3 June 1978 Zaterdag

3 June 1978 Zaterdag

Today wasn’t quite as hot as it has been but it was definately warm. We also had a real hard time to teach today. Our one and only appointment left a note on their door saying:

“Mijn Heer Elder Reber & Elder Leavitt, Familie Ver Leysen kunnen niet thuis zijn wegens anvoorzien omstandigheden”

[My Lords Elder Reber & Elder Leavitt, the VerLeysen family are unable to be home due to unforeseen circumstances]

In other words they couldn’t be home. In one of our areas today they had a small fair (kermis) which was quite neat. There weren’t a lot of people, but everyone had their houses all decorated and flags hanging up. It looked quite sharp.

This morning as were were walking through the markt an ambulance came driving through all the people and we didn’t think very much about it, but when we got further, they walked by us carrying a young lady on a stretcher. She was quite unconcious and real white. We overheard people saying that she had fainted or somehtiung of the sort. I think she worked in one of the stands. Well after a lot of working, we finally decided to go see if we could teach Mr. Suelze anything (an old investigator that we had dropped). We talked a lot, this time mostly about profets, but I don’t think we taught him anything. He isn’t at all open for new ideas. He is trying to get us on the straight & narrow path I think.
