Prom

Desiree Heaton went with
Sarah to get her nails done
Today was Sarah's Senior Prom. Let me share with you my to-do list for today.
- mow front lawn
- edge front lawn
- mow back lawn
- fix broken sprinkler
- fix squeaky wheel on van
- clean up cat barf
- fertilize lawn
- vacuum stairs
- clean up recycling bottles
- sweep patio
- empty garbages

There was more on the list that I didn't get done but that was enough.

Ashley Aven did Sarah's make up
While I was getting things ready to take prom pictures Sarah started early getting herself ready for prom. Her first stop was to go and pick up her dress. Just to brag a little, Sarah designed this dress herself. She drew it out and took it to a friend of hers who is a seamstress. The seamstress was thrilled to make the dress and said it was a fun dress to make. Sarah is a very frugal girl and she solicited the help of friends in her prom preparations as much as she could. Since she is friends with everyone she had many people not only willing to help but anxious to.

Marissa Shoemaker did Sarah's hair
From the seamstress was the waxing place. After the wax was the nails. Desiree Heaton offered to do Sarah's nails but then surprised her and took her to a professional place to get it done. From the nails it was on to Ashley Aven to get her make up done. From Ashley's she came home and Marissa Shoemaker came over and did her hair. The whole operation reminded me of the Disney version of Cinderella where the mice and birds are all helping Cinderella get ready for the ball.

The boy showed up at 2:30 and when he saw Sarah you should have seen his jaw drop. I tried to get a picture of it but he almost ran to Sarah and I was too slow. The boy does actually have a name and he actually asked Lisa for her permission to ask Sarah to prom. His name is Tyler Winston and he is a good kid and seems quite intelligent.

This is serious business
I took pictures of them here in our yard until 3:00 when they were supposed to meet up with the rest of the group. Of course there are always those girls who just can't get themselves ready on time so we sat there waiting until 4:00 and then headed out to the designated picture spot. That too was a bit of confusion but I won't get into that here. The pictures (as you can see) turned out quite nice.

We then hugged our little girl goodbye, I told Tyler to take good care of my daughter and then reminded him that I have several guns and then sent them off. Now begins the waiting. I don't like this part very much. I just might fall asleep in church tomorrow.

It always amazes me how difficult it always is
for girls to pin on a boutonniere

Ears are the strangest things. I think they're beautiful but
if you look at them closely they are really weird.
I do like this earring though.

Ashley Aven loaned this saphire ring to Sarah for the night
because she thought it went well with her dress.
It does go perfectly don't you think? It scares me to death though.
We threatened her not to take it off.
Ashley also loaned her the bracelet. I didn't dare ask if it was real.
Don't you think the bracelet, ring, corsage
and broach all go well together?
What a beautiful girl and a beautiful dress.

Off they go.
