A Day with the Taylors

Friday, May 17, 2024

Mom decided to take yesterday off work so we could spend the day with Sarah’s family. The plan was to hike Torrey Pins. We were going to hike up to the top of the hill, over to the stairs leading down to the beach and then back to the car. We decided to take a detour.
Near the top of the hill, we took the Guy Fleming trail. All of the hikes in Torrey Pines are amazing and we haven’t been on this one for a while.
Ezzy was fascinated by everything, especially this lizard. We had a very rainy spring and the flowers and cacti were all blooming. It was a beautiful hike.

Overlooking Torrey Pines beach.

Our next stop was the Rose Garden in Balboa Park. I have seen this place as we’ve driven by, but I have never stopped before. It was amazing and much larger than you would think by looking at it from the street.
I’ve never thought much about Roses, and I’m surprised that most of them don’t smell. The ones that do smell, however, smell wonderful. Mom and I decided that we’re going to dedicate a small part of our yard to a Rose Garden. I love this white rose and it smells great. It is called a Sugar Moon and is a candidate for our garden.
The best smelling rose I have found so far is called a Double Delight and we already have one in our yard. In is a beautiful rose and a great smelling rose.

Our next stop was the playground at La Jolla Shores. We spent a little over an hour there and then came home. It was a long but very fulfilling day.
