My Bucket List – List the top ten things on your bucket list.
In no particular order
1) Go to the moon
2) Get a PhD in Physics
3) Hike to Havasupai Falls in the Grand Canyon
4) Make a commercially successful product that uses thermoelectric power
There are more but I would need more time to think about them.
When I was young…
How much did a loaf of bread cost? $0.20
How much did milk cost? $0.49/gallon
How much did stamps cost? $0.05
How much did gas cost? $0.31/gallon
How much did a movie ticket cost? $1.01
How much did a candy bar cost? $0.05
What were prices of other items you remember?
In Canada, before my mission, I paid $0.25/gallon for gas, I bought my first bike (a really nice 10 speed), for under $100, my first house was $25,000, I paid a couple hundred dollars for my first used car, my tuition at BYU before my mission was $760 a semester.
Do you think life is harder or easier for kids these days compared to your childhood?
I believe life is much more difficult for kids today due to the proliferation of numerous drugs and the easy availabillity of it. I was offered drugs once as a kid. Poronography is available at the touch of a button but for me it was a rare thing to find a pornographic magazine. Kids today have many commitments to things like sports and other extra curricular activities where I had none. Electronic games keep many kids from socializing with others and social media can put enormous pressure on kids.
At the same time, kids today have the opportunity to excel at things that I never could have. Kids out of high school can be computer genius’s, excellent athletes and skilled musicians.
